Women's Sailing

Breakwater Sailing Center is pleased to offer a summer sailing program designed specifically for women. Whether a beginner or intermediate sailor, you will safely learn to sail or build on your existing skills in a structured and supportive environment. If there is interest, we will offer an advanced class focusing on racing skills and tactics. The program will run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30-7:30 pm, in June, July, and August.

BEGINNER PROGRAM

Safe sailing, basic knots, rigging boats, capsize recovery, wind and weather, basic sailing maneuvers, and on-the-water practice.

JY 70 and J 24 boats will be sailed in this program.

INTERMEDIATE PROGRAM

Improving boat handling skills, safety and seamanship, weather, wind, current and tides, navigation, and how to make a sailboat move more efficiently; on the water practice.

JY 70 and J 24 boats will be sailed in this program.

WHAT TO WEAR

Sunglasses and hat with a brim, sunscreen/lip balm, breathable, quick-drying clothing, jacket that sheds rain or spray, rubber-soled shoes that cover your toes, gloves to protect your hands, and water bottle for hydration. Also, have layers for warmth for cooler weather in the evening.
