About

Breakwater is a not-for-profit community sailing center in Sag Harbor, New York. 

Breakwater’s mission is to promote the sport of sailing and sailboat racing for all members of the community. We strive to ensure that sailors learn, cruise, and compete in a safe, fun environment and maintain high standards of sportsmanship. Breakwater Sailing Center, Inc. includes the activities of Breakwater Yacht Club. 

Breakwater is a registered Section 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

WHAT WE OFFER


Affordable membership open to all


Junior sailing programs for all skill levels

High School Sailing Club is open to all area high school and middle school students.

Private and group sailing lessons for beginner and intermediate sailors of all ages in our fleets of JY15 dinghies and J24 and J70 keelboats

Weekly keelboat racing under the PHRF handicap system

Weekly one-design racing for JY15s, Sunfish, Lasers and J70s

The Annual Sag Harbor Cup Regatta for keelboats and multiple regattas for one design dinghies

Dock usage

Courses and seminars on sailboat racing and social events for members

Facilities rentals for weddings and other private events
